Ukraine’s Defense Forces are regaining control of the so-called "gray zone" on Oleksandrivka axis and are preventing the enemy from bringing in consolidation groups, Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn told Interfax-Ukraine.
"Ukrainian forces are regaining control of the so-called ‘gray zone,’ preventing the enemy from deploying consolidation groups and carrying out assault actions – that is, we have seized the initiative there," Voloshyn said.
He explained that the enemy’s tactic has been to conduct a large number of successive assault actions to prevent Ukraine’s Defense Forces from having time to bring up reinforcements and improve logistics. They were constantly attacking, but now Ukrainian defenders have seized the initiative.
"We are trying to conduct counterattacks and thereby maintain the tempo, restoring control over certain settlements located on our axes, in particular on Oleksandrivka axis," Voloshyn added.
On March 2, the Air Assault Forces reported that their units had liberated nine settlements on Oleksandrivka axis.
The General Staff said that, in line with the plan of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and under the clear leadership of the commander of the Air Assault Forces, a consistent and effective implementation of the offensive operation had been ensured.
