Ukraine ready to exchange its interceptors for PAC-3 – Zelenskyy
Ukraine is facing a shortage of PAC-3 missiles and is prepared to exchange its drone-interceptors for them, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced.
"We have a deficit of PAC-3, yes. For example, if we are talking about weapons during the war that we are short of, then PAC-3 missiles—if they give them to us, we will give them our interceptor. This is an equivalent exchange," Zelenskyy said during a briefing, commenting on the possibility of cooperation with Middle Eastern countries.
The President emphasized that Ukraine has gained unique, high-value experience in countering Iranian-designed drones and has successfully developed its own domestic interceptor technology. According to recent Air Force data, Ukrainian interceptor drones now account for approximately 30% of all enemy UAVs destroyed.
Zelenskyy’s proposal comes amid an escalation in the Middle East, where local states face similar threats from Shahed-type suicide drones. He suggested that Ukrainian expertise and technology could be vital for regional security in exchange for the specialized surface-to-air missiles needed for Ukraine’s Patriot systems to intercept ballistic threats from Russia.
