As a result of fighting for the Ukrainian settlement of Berezove on the administrative border between Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions, several Russian units suffered losses so heavy that they effectively lost combat capability, Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn told Interfax-Ukraine.
"According to our intelligence, as a result of the fighting for the settlement of Berezove, located on the administrative border between Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions, several Russian units suffered such losses that they effectively lost combat capability. And the occupiers asked not even for reinforcements, but specifically to be withdrawn from there and replaced," Voloshyn said.
In addition, according to Ukrainian intelligence, the spokesperson said, the enemy is moving personnel of assault groups that underwent training at training centers in the temporarily occupied parts of Zaporizhia and Kherson regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
"The enemy is now moving assault group personnel from their base areas to staging areas. That is, they will still need to move from those staging areas to forward positions, and then begin actions from those forward positions," he said.
As a result, Voloshyn said, the pace of Russian assaults in some sectors, in particular on Oleksandrivka axis, has somewhat decreased.
Overall, over the past day the enemy carried out six combat engagements on Oleksandrivka axis: three were small-arms clashes near the settlement of Zlahoda and two near the settlement of Ternove.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over the past day Ukraine’s Defense Forces inflicted significant losses on the enemy: over 260 personnel and 177 pieces of weapons and military equipment. These included four tanks, 12 armored combat vehicles, a Strela-10 air defense missile system, a Buk-M1 air defense missile system, as well as several multiple launch rocket systems, including the 2B26 Grad-K MLRS.
In total, 48 combat engagements were recorded over the past day, 40 of them on Huliaipole axis.
