Hungarian FM summons Ukrainian ambassador due to ‘violent hunt’ of Hungarians in Zakarpattia

The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Ukrainian ambassador in connection with the mobilization of residents of Zakarpattia, who hold dual citizenship, said Minister Péter Szijjártó.

"Brussels is investing countless resources in this absolutely hopeless and senseless war, and they want to take even more money from Europeans to continue this senseless and hopeless war, which brings new deaths, new suffering, and new human hunts every day. In Ukraine, there is an open human hunt on the streets to support the war," Szijjártó said in a video on Facebook.

As an example of "hunting," he cited the case of the mobilization of a resident of Berehove, who holds dual citizenship of Ukraine and Hungary, stating that this citizen had an official exemption from conscription.

Szijjártó also reported the "abduction" of a Hungarian man with mental health issues.

"Therefore, today we summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to Budapest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express our protest against the ongoing violent recruitment and open manhunt for people on the streets," he noted.
