Night attack by Russia on energy sector causes additional outages in 3 regions – Ukrenergo
As a result of Russia’s attacks on energy infrastructure, there are power outages among consumers in Donetsk, Sumy, and Zaporizhia regions as of Monday morning, National Power Company (NPC) Ukrenergo has said.
According to its Telegram statement on Monday, emergency recovery work is being carried out wherever safety conditions permit to return damaged equipment to operation and restore power to all disconnected subscribers as quickly as possible.
Ukrenergo noted that due to the consequences of previous massive Russian attacks, power limitation schedules for industry, as well as hourly outage schedules for all categories of consumers, continue to be applied in parts of Ukraine. According to the information, in regions where hourly outages are in effect, the need for economical energy consumption and the shifting of energy-intensive processes to nighttime—after 22:00—remains.
At the same time, electricity consumption has increased—as of 09:00 Monday, the level was 7.6% higher than at the same time on the previous working day, Friday.
"The reason for such changes is the rise in air temperature and a smaller volume of applied restriction measures," the company explained.
