Zelenskyy announces boost to diplomatic work in Europe, appointment of special envoy for Belarus
Ukraine will strengthen certain areas of its diplomatic work in Europe and other parts of the world, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, announcing personnel changes in the diplomatic corps and the appointment of a special envoy for Belarus and the Belarusian community abroad.
"I spoke with our diplomatic team, and we are also communicating with people who have good experience and have proven themselves in defending Ukrainian interests. In particular, I met with Pavlo Klimkin. We are preparing to strengthen certain areas of diplomatic work in Europe and beyond," Zelenskyy said in his evening video address on Friday.
He said Ukrainian interests must be represented at the official level, "including in communication with communities from countries that currently do not have freedom or are under Russian influence."
"There will be personnel changes in the diplomatic corps. The Foreign Ministry is also preparing candidates for the appointment of a special envoy on Belarus and the Belarusian community in Europe – a more active policy is needed," Zelenskyy added, noting that the activity of the Ukrainian state and Ukrainians 'delivers the best results for Ukraine," and that in such cases "Ukraine's interests are truly protected."
