USF claims strike on Pantsir-S1 at Azovstal plant
Soldiers of the Unmanned Systems Forces (UBS) struck a Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system on February 27 using a Ukrainian-made "middle strike" weapon in Mariupol on the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant, the UBS press service reported on its Telegram channel.
"On February 27, operators of the 1st Battalion of the 413th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment ‘Raid’ of the Unmanned Systems Forces struck an enemy Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system with a Ukrainian-made middle strike weapon. The strike took place in the Donetsk direction, in the Mariupol area, on the territory of the Azovstal plant," the UBS message stated on Friday.
It is reported that the estimated cost of the destroyed complex is approximately $15 million. The Pantsir-S1 is one of the key elements of Russia’s air defense.
Middle Strike is a class of Ukrainian medium-range attack drones (approximately 100 km and further) designed to strike targets in the enemy’s rear. Among the well-known UAVs of this class are models such as Bulava, Darts, and FP-2. They serve as an intermediate link between FPV drones (short range) and Deep Strike drones (long-range strikes).
