The European Union continues to actively scale up the production of 155mm artillery ammunition, which has already reached over two million units per year, and maintains supplies to Ukraine within the framework of previously launched projects, EU Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius said in a blitz interview with Interfax-Ukraine during a visit to KYIV.

When asked whether the 155mm ammunition supply project is ongoing and if Europe continues to provide them to Ukraine, the commissioner replied: "Yes, this will continue."

"Europe is actively increasing production. At the beginning of the war, this was a major problem. Now we produce more than two million shells a year. Extended-range ammunition is a more specific task, but we believe we can solve this issue as well," he emphasized.

Kubilius noted that while 155mm artillery shells were a significant challenge at the start of the full-scale invasion, production is now ramping up. At the same time, he underlined that the priority challenge currently remains the shortage of missiles for Ukraine’s air defense.
