Ukrainian MP and leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, called for an urgent resumption of dialogue between Ukraine and China, stating that the relevant opportunities, as well as the opportunities for dialogue with Brazil, are not being utilized, according to the party’s website.

"We are prepared to accept the conditions China once proposed, and those supported by Brazil. Who last visited China from the Ukrainian government? No one. We have the luxury of ignoring our second-largest economy, which is currently the key factor in exerting pressure on Russia. I think this is short-sighted," Poroshenko said during a special broadcast on the Priamy and 5 Kanal television channels to mark the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

He recalled that in 2023, China put forward its proposals to end the war, but they were rejected. "What was there? Position number one was an immediate, comprehensive, and unconditional ceasefire, says China, which can ensure this simply by halting the supply of components to the Russian defense industry. Second, unconditional guarantee of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Third, a guaranteed cessation of shelling of critical energy infrastructure facilities, including nuclear power plants. What was Ukraine’s response? It doesn’t correspond to Ukrainian interests, the Ukrainian government said. Why? It’s a pro-Russian narrative. And they rejected it, pushed it aside. Now we need to immediately resume dialogue with China," Poroshenko believes.
