Zelenskyy, Plenković discuss energy support, Ukraine's accession to EU
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković. During the meeting, the parties discussed energy cooperation and security, Zelenskyy said on the Telegram channel.
"Croatia is already transferring equipment for the needs of Ukrainian energy companies, and we appreciate its readiness to continue assisting in the restoration of the Ukrainian energy sector," the president said following the meeting.
Zelenskyy and Plenković also discussed the steps necessary for gaining EU membership and joint actions of all European partners.
"I also informed the Prime Minister about the trilateral meetings in Geneva and preparations for the next talks. I thank Andrej for this visit and for the fact that Croatia has been standing by and helping Ukrainians during these years. I thank you for participating in the PURL program and preparing a new defense package," the president said.
In turn, Plenković said Croatia supports a just and sustainable peace and that Ukraine should not agree to any de jure renunciation of its occupied territories during peace talks.
"The Croatian government will continue to support #Ukraine politically, militarily, energetically, and humanitarianly, as well as in demining efforts and by sharing its experience in prosecuting war crimes," Plenković said on the X social network.
He also said through JANAF, Croatia has the opportunity to ensure oil supplies sufficient to meet 100% of the needs of oil refineries in Hungary and Slovakia, which is fully compliant with the EU and US sanctions regimes.
"Finally, I reiterated the Croatian Government's firm support for Ukraine's reform efforts and its European path, including progress toward membership in the EU," Plenković said.
