Former US Secretary of State Pompeo visits Ukraine ahead of invasion anniversary – Stefanchuk
Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Kyiv ahead of the anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk has said.
"The visit of former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Kyiv is an important signal of continued attention and support for Ukraine. During the meeting, I thanked him for his consistent stance on deterring authoritarian regimes and for supporting Ukraine. Bipartisan support from the United States remains critically important for our country and for the security of the entire transatlantic space," he said on the X social network on Monday.
Stefanchuk informed Pompeo about the current security situation in the country.
"Russia continues its missile and drone terror against civilian infrastructure, demonstrating its unwillingness to pursue peace. We also discussed further steps in Ukraine-U.S. cooperation, including strengthening defence support, increasing sanctions pressure, and shaping reliable security guarantees," the Ukrainian parliament chairman said.
