Ukraine's Modern Expo expands exhibition space 100-fold at world's largest retail trade fair EuroShop over 24 years

Modern Expo (Lutsk), Ukraine’s largest manufacturer of retail equipment and solutions, leased 1,600 square meters for its pavilion at EuroShop 2026 in Düsseldorf, a trade fair held every three years and positioning itself as the world’s largest exhibition in the retail sector. By this metric, the company became the largest exhibitor among 1,800 participants, who together occupy about 103,000 square meters of exhibition space.

"We first took part in the exhibition 24 years ago. As our CEO [and owner] Petro Pylypiuk recalled, back then we rented 16 square meters for our stand, and this year — 1,600 square meters," Dmytro Visyn, Modern Expo’s Business Development Director, told Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, since then the company has evolved from a manufacturer and seller of retail equipment into a supplier of turnkey solutions within the ecosystem of modern retail, from automated micromarkets to intelligent last-mile logistics systems, including the development of parcel locker networks.

Visyn clarified that Modern Expo offers ready-made solutions for creating small-format stores, which are currently gaining popularity.

He added that through its parcel locker network, the company also helps clients develop online commerce. As examples, he cited the Polish electronics retailer Media Expert, which began with six parcel lockers in addition to its offline stores and now operates hundreds, as well as the Polish DIY retailer Castorama and the Ukrainian retail chain Epicenter.

"In all of these projects, we also provided consulting services, advising clients on how to build everything correctly," the Business Development Director explained.

He emphasized that the company is not merely supplying equipment but delivering turnkey solutions and ensuring their continuous development. As an example, he pointed to a new parcel locker option allowing couriers on electric mopeds to use a locker compartment to swap and recharge batteries.

Visyn also noted that a relatively new function is post-sale service – ongoing maintenance and support of the technological solutions provided.

"We started with shelving and checkout counters, then added refrigeration units, and now we offer full-fledged solutions – self-checkout and digital signage. We plan to enter new markets and to resell certain solutions, for example, kitchen solutions. In other words, so that a client can receive a comprehensive solution for their store from a single provider. Plus expertise and post-sale service afterward," he summarized.

As clarified to Interfax-Ukraine at the pavilion, it was fully designed and manufactured in-house (with the exception of lighting) and will be returned to Lutsk after the exhibition. Among the new solutions presented are more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient CO₂-based refrigeration equipment, which is becoming the standard in Western markets; self-checkout systems; modular neighborhood mini-store concepts with coffee and grab-and-go food zones and refrigeration equipment; and parcel lockers for automated returns.

At the Düsseldorf exhibition, the company is represented by a team of 150 specialists – engineers, developers, analysts, and top managers.

In addition to Modern Expo, other Ukrainian companies participating in the exhibition include refrigeration equipment manufacturer UBC Group, retailer Fozzy Group, commercial equipment supplier PrJSC Agroresurs (Rivne), system integrator DEPS Solutions (Kyiv), advertising agency Partyzan (Lutsk), payment solutions company PayKit (Kharkiv), and commercial refrigeration equipment manufacturer VIK Hitline (Kharkiv).

UBC Group, which is participating in EuroShop for the second time this year, told Interfax-Ukraine that it has doubled the size of its pavilion.

According to information on Modern Expo’s website, since 1997 the company has implemented more than one million projects worldwide. It currently comprises nine production units specializing in various types of equipment, operates 75,000 square meters of production facilities in Lutsk and 12,500 square meters in Lublin (Poland). The company employs more than 2,200 people, and its products are exported to more than 75 countries.

According to YouControl data, in the first nine months of 2025, JV Modern Expo LLC increased revenue by 27.2% compared to the same period in 2024 to UAH 5.6457 billion, while net profit decreased by 7.9%, to UAH 796.6 million.
