Zelenskyy: No one wants elections during war, everyone fears split in society
A state during elections must be focused on elections; during war, it must be focused exclusively on the war, stated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"No one wants elections during the war. Everyone fears a split in society. A split will happen anyway… It won’t be that there are five people and they are all very, very civilized," Zelenskyy said in an interview with AFP.
"A state during elections is focused on elections. A state during war has the opportunity to focus exclusively on the war. As the single priority. There is other life. But there will be no other life without this. Therefore, we are shifting the focus to elections from the war," the President noted.
He emphasized that he considers this a mistake and speaks openly about it to partners.
