Management of ZNPP may be discussed during next round of negotiations – media

At the next meeting of representatives of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia in a trilateral format, the issue of managing the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is currently occupied by Russia troops, may be discussed, Ukrainska Pravda has said.

"At the next meeting of the groups, which President Zelenskyy confirmed, energy specialists may also be included in the negotiations," the report says, citing the publication’s sources in diplomatic circles.

According to preliminary data, the conversation will touch upon the issue of who should manage the Zaporizhia NPP and in what format.

If the issue is indeed raised and an acceptable mechanism is found, it will effectively mean that the work of the negotiating groups has exhausted itself. After discussing these issues at the negotiations, the need for a meeting at the leadership level will be felt even more acutely.

As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the existence of an opportunity to end the war worthily in the near future and the importance of a meeting at the leadership level, which can overcome disagreements that are insurmountable at the level of negotiating teams.

"We believe that real opportunities to end the war worthily remain, and the world’s ability to pressure Russia to ensure a reliable peace replaces war can significantly help. We expect that in the near future, in February, it will be possible to organize another round of negotiations and that this round can become truly productive," Zelenskyy stated following the meetings of the Ukrainian negotiating group in Switzerland, where another round of trilateral negotiations with the United States and Russia on ending the war took place in Geneva on February 17-18.

He also reported that work is being conducted "for the readiness of leaders to meet and decide what has not yet been decided at the team level."
