Consumers in 4 regions de-energized following Russia attacks – Ministry of Energy

2 min read

As of Monday morning, due to hostilities and shelling of energy infrastructure facilities, some consumers in Odesa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, and Sumy regions remain without electricity supply, First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov has said.

"In Kharkiv region, an energy sector worker was injured during an enemy attack. He is being provided with all necessary medical assistance," he also stated during a briefing on Monday.

At the same time, according to information from National Power Company (NPC) Ukrenergo, emergency restoration work is already underway wherever the security situation currently permits. Power engineers are doing everything possible to return equipment damaged by the enemy to operation as quickly as possible. The restoration of distribution networks after previous massive attacks on energy facilities, particularly in Odesa region, is also ongoing.

Due to the consequences of previous Russia attacks, power limitation schedules for industry, as well as hourly shutdown schedules for all categories of consumers, are being applied in most regions of Ukraine. In certain regions, emergency shutdowns have been forced into application. Previously published hourly shutdown schedules are not in effect there.

As noted by Ukrenergo, in regions where hourly shutdowns are applied, the need for economical energy consumption remains.

"Please limit the use of powerful electrical appliances. If possible, move energy-intensive processes to the night-time hours, after 23:00," the company appealed to consumers.
