URCS warming centers continue to operate
The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) reports on the support for the continuous operation of the deployed warming centers.
"Ukrainian Red Cross Society warming centers remain a place of support for people. Here, one can warm up, have a hot cup of tea or coffee, receive a hot meal, charge a phone, rest and socialize," the Ukrainian Red Cross Society said on Facebook.
This week, Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger and International Committee of the Red Cross Director General Pierre Krähenbühl visited Ukrainian Red Cross Society warming centers in Kyiv during separate working visits to Ukraine.
Ukrainian Red Cross Society Director General Maksym Dotsenko said he briefed the Austrian foreign minister on how the organization is responding to the consequences of attacks on energy infrastructure.
"We had a substantive conversation about the humanitarian situation in the country, the needs of people and the challenges our team faces every day under conditions of full-scale war ... We also discussed the work of rapid response teams that assist those affected by shelling and work alongside the State Emergency Service of Ukraine," Dotsenko said.
During his visit to a warming center, the ICRC director general spoke with residents of the capital. Krähenbühl and Dotsenko discussed humanitarian assistance and further cooperation.
"The support of international partners is extremely important for ensuring continuous humanitarian assistance and strengthening the Ukrainian Red Cross Society's capacity to respond swiftly to the needs of people across the country," the organization said.
