Zelenskyy: Not sure teams can resolve territorial issues, Ukrainians must accept peace deal
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he is not sure territorial issues can be resolved by teams; in any case, the peace agreement must be accepted by the Ukrainian people.
"I am not sure that our teams can really resolve the issue regarding territories. Of course, this in any case depends on our people; ultimately, it is our people who must accept this peace agreement or not, and not someone else in the world. And it does not depend on whether a country is strong or a leader is strong, or not. It depends on the Ukrainian people," Zelenskyy said in an interview with Piers Morgan on Wednesday.
The president noted that territorial issues could be attempted to be resolved at the level of the three leaders. He emphasized that Ukraine does not trust Putin or the Russians personally. Zelenskyy added that it is not only about Putin, but also about the system and his entourage.
Furthermore, the Ukrainian head of state noted that he has his own point of view on why the Russia began the aggression, but "there is no need to waste time on historical issues," specifically the "nonsense" that Putin discusses with Americans regarding Peter the Great and so on.
"I don’t need this because in order to end this war and follow a diplomatic path, I really don’t need all this historical sh*t. Because it’s only a delay, as I have read no fewer history books than Putin, I’m sure, and I’ve learned a lot because we must know everything about this country, and I know more about his country than he knows about Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.
