Third Army, Khartia Corps sign memo on developing training programs for Ukrainian army
The commanders of the Third Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the Second Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine "Khartia" (Charter) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at developing joint training programs for personnel, the Third Army Corps press service said on Tuesday.
"We have created the Yevhen Konovalets Military School and introduced a management culture based on the principles of Mission Command – with every service member, from soldier to general, ready to make decisions within their competence and take responsibility. This model has been scaled from battalion to corps level. We continue to develop it together with Khartia and are ready to share our experience with other units," commander of the Third Army Corps Andriy Biletsky said.
The project titled "Interoperability for battlefield effectiveness and saving lives" will combine Ukrainian combat experience with the best practices of NATO countries. It concerns adapting Western approaches to the realities of modern high‑tech warfare and eliminating remnants of the post‑Soviet legacy.
The new methodologies will cover basic military training, training of specialists of the non-commissioned officer (NCO), retraining of junior officers, unification of terminology, standards of technical interoperability, medical support and training, and more.
"When units speak a single professional language, use the same planning procedures, and have the same level of training, they become interoperable. This builds trust within the army and makes it possible to apply the principle of mission command (delegated leadership). And that, in turn, is a prerequisite for success on the battlefield," commander of the Khartia Corps Ihor Obolensky said.
It is noted that the Third Army Corps and Khartia are jointly defending Kharkiv region, so strengthening coordination and sharing experience will allow them to repel the enemy more effectively and save soldiers' lives. The joint platform will be open to other units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, which will be able to share their experience and contribute to the development of materials and methodologies.
