Ukrainian Association of Communities signs memo on education cooperation under DECIDE

The All-Ukrainian Association of Communities and the public organization DOCCU "Development of Сitizenship Competences in Ukraine" have signed a memorandum of cooperation that defines the strategic directions of their joint activities within the implementation of the Swiss-Ukrainian project DECIDE: Decentralization for the Development of Democratic Education.

According to the association’s press service on Tuesday, the cooperation places particular emphasis on developing education in rural areas, especially on strengthening the professional orientation of learners with regard to the needs of the local labor market. An important area of work is establishing partnerships between educational institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises, which will allow students to become better acquainted with professions, acquire practical skills, and gain a realistic understanding of opportunities for professional self-realization within their communities.

"The DECIDE project is an important step for the development of education in communities. It is aimed at supporting reforms and decentralization processes to ensure effective governance in the sector and equal access for residents of territorial communities to quality education," Association of Communities Executive Director Ivan Slobodianyk said.

The memorandum provides for cooperation between the parties in implementing the project in all regions of Ukraine, except for temporarily occupied territories.
