Shmyhal discusses compensation for damages caused to Ukraine with CoE Secretary General
First Deputy Prime Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal met with Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset in Kyiv on Monday. Shmyhal announced this on his Telegram channel.
According to him, the key subject of the meeting was the need to hold Russia accountable for war crimes, particularly its daily attacks on energy production. The parties also discussed compensation for damages to Ukraine.
"I thanked the Secretary General of the Council of Europe for his clear support of Ukraine and the creation of the Register of losses as part of the International Compensation Mechanism. Ukraine continues to suffer enormous energy losses due to Russian attacks. Restoring energy infrastructure is critical to restoring normal life in the country. The enemy must compensate for everything it has destroyed," Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.
