Zelenskyy: Ukraine repels nightly Russian rocket attacks on energy facilities
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported that Ukrainian air defense forces repelled a Russian missile attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities.
"There was a report on the consequences of the night strike - the Russians used missiles against our energy facilities. The air defense worked," Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram on Monday following a conference call on the situation in Ukraine’s regions.
He stressed that even on the eve of the trilateral Ukrainian-American-Russian meeting in Geneva, "the Russian army has no other orders than to continue strikes on Ukraine," and called this eloquent. "Every Russian missile is the aggressor’s response to calls to end the war, and that is why we insist: only with sufficient pressure on Russia and clear security guarantees for Ukraine can this war really be ended," the president said.
Zelenskyy reported that he had instructed the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoly Kryvonozhko, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov, and the head of Ukrenergo Vitaly Zaichenko to prepare the necessary additional protective measures during the day, taking into account intelligence information about Russia preparing a massive strike.
According to him, on the sidelines of the security conference in Munich, energy issues were discussed with some partners, "and in the coming days we need to implement existing agreements." "We are also working to accelerate the supply of missiles for air defense - this is an unchanging priority," the president said.
Zelenskyy also reported on the report of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on the preparation of meetings in the format of the energy "Ramstein" during the week in France. "The G7 countries, partners from Northern Europe and the Baltics will be represented, as well as ministers from the US, Canada, and the EU. We have identified specific things that we need, and it is on such energy support packages that the minister will focus," the head of state said.
