Ukrainian FM calls meeting on Beijing's role in ending the war with his Chinese counterpart in Munich productive
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha discussed peace efforts and China’s important role in helping end the war with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Friday.
“In Munich, I had a meaningful and productive meeting with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi. We focused on ways to develop mutually beneficial trade and bilateral ties based on reciprocal respect for territorial integrity,” the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry wrote on the social network X following the negotiations.
According to Sybiha, he briefed his Chinese counterpart on the situation on the battlefield, Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, and the losses suffered by Chinese companies as a result of Russian strikes.
Furthermore, the minister noted, the two sides focused on ways to develop mutually beneficial trade and bilateral ties based on mutual respect for territorial integrity.
The Ukrainian minister also thanked Beijing for its decision to provide Ukraine with an additional package of humanitarian energy aid.
“I reiterated Ukraine’s interest in contacts with China at the highest level,” Sybiha also informed.
