Klitschko: Kyiv receives another 323 generators from EU to power heating points
Kyiv received the second batch of generators from the European Union in the amount of 323 units, the first (177 units) has already been sent for connection to heating points in residential buildings, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.
"Kyiv received a second batch from the European Union — another 323 generators. They were handed over to the capital by EU Commissioner for Crisis Management, Preparedness and Equality Hadja Lahbib, with the participation of First Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Alona Shkrum," he wrote on his Telegram channel Thursday.
According to him, the first batch (177 generators) that arrived earlier has already been directed by the city to connect to individual heating points in buildings where possible. The second batch will also be used primarily to power heating points.
Klitschko noted that in total, Kyiv received 500 autonomous power sources from the EU, including 438 generators with a capacity of 20 kW and 62 with 22 kW.
Klitschko noted that the autonomous power sources were provided from the EU's strategic civil protection reserve — rescEU through the Emergency Response Coordination Centre at the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations. Deliveries from the rescEU reserve are fully financed by the EU and coordinated by the European Commission.
"We thank our European partners for this much-needed assistance amid the energy crisis in Ukraine and Kyiv," the capital's mayor concluded.
