Parliament urges democratic world to accelerate creation of Special Tribunal to punish Russia
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called on international organizations, parliaments and governments of democratic countries to accelerate the creation of a Special Tribunal to hold Russia accountable, whose actions are designed to physically destroy Ukrainians.
The relevant resolution (No. 15026) on the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada to the United Nations, the International Criminal Court, the parliaments and governments of the UN member states, the Group of Seven, the European Union and NATO, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Council of Europe, the OSCE, NATO, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the targeted and coordinated policy of the Russian Federation to create dangerous living conditions designed to physically destroy Ukrainians was supported by 267 MPs at the plenary session of the parliament on Wednesday.
The parliamentarians also called on international organizations and institutions to strengthen military, financial, and humanitarian support for Ukraine, and to ensure complete economic and political isolation of Russia and its allies.
In addition, the Verkhovna Rada called on the democratic world to accelerate and expand the supply of air defense systems and ammunition, and to provide long-range weapons for strikes on legitimate military targets on the territory of Russia, from which the civilian population and critical infrastructure of Ukraine are attacked.
The appeal also speaks of the need to send a humanitarian military mission to Ukraine to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The MPs called on international structures to condemn the actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which supply Russia with weapons for attacks on the civilian population and the destruction of Ukraine's infrastructure, as well as the participation of the DPRK military formations in the Russian Federation's armed aggression against Ukraine.
