Kos: European Commission preparing summit on return of Ukrainian children from Russia, backs special tribunal

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos has announced the preparation of the first summit on the return of Ukrainian children taken to Russia and support for the establishment of a special tribunal to hold accountable those involved in their removal.

"Russia has kidnapped tens of thousands of Ukrainian children. They are forced to deny their culture and identity. We are preparing the first Summit on their return together with Ukraine and Canada and backing the Council of Europe’s efforts to set up a Special Tribunal to hold those responsible accountable," Kos said on X platform on Wednesday.

As reported, back in October 2025, Head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas announced the allocation of the first EUR 10 million for the creation of a special tribunal to consider Russian crimes, as well as another EUR 6 million to support Ukrainian children deported to Russia and victims of sexual violence.
