The United Kingdom has agreed to allocate GBP 150 million for the purchase of U.S. weapons for Ukraine as part of a NATO initiative called Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), Politico reported on Wednesday, citing UK Defense Secretary John Healey.

"I’m pleased to confirm the U.K. is committing £150 million to PURL," the publication said, citing Healey.

Politico said the United Kingdom has become the latest NATO ally to join the initiative.

According to Politico, in 2025 the program attracted about $5 billion for Ukraine. Earlier in February, NATO chief Mark Rutte said he was "absolutely confident" that the alliance could raise an additional $15 billion this year.

On the eve, Western media, citing U.S. Ambassador to the alliance Matthew Whitaker, reported that NATO countries had already pledged to purchase over $4.5 billion in U.S. weapons for Kyiv under the PURL program. According to Whitaker, the corresponding commitments came from 21 NATO countries and two alliance partners.

The PURL initiative was announced on July 14 by U.S. President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. It is intended for the purchase of U.S.-made weapons, including air defense systems, ammunition and spare parts. The initiative to finance the purchase of U.S. weapons for Ukraine appeared after the U.S. administration refused to continue supplying weapons to Kyiv for free.

Assistance to Ukraine within the framework of PURL will be the main topic for discussion at a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels on Thursday.
