Fedorov on EU loan: We expect rapid funding to keep frontline supplies moving
Ukraine expects a quick allocation of funds for defense needs from the EU loan for Ukraine for 2026-2027, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has said.
"The European Parliament approved a loan for Ukraine for EUR 90 billion in 2026-2027. Of these, EUR 60 billion will be allocated for defense needs. We expect a quick process of allocating funds so that these resources can reach the frontline without delay. In this war, speed is as important as weapons," Fedorov said in Telegram on Wednesday.
As reported, the members of the European Parliament voted at the plenary session in Strasbourg on February 11 for a loan for Ukraine for 2026-2027 in the amount of EUR 90 billion. Of the EUR 90 billion for Kyiv, EUR 60 billion is planned to be spent on Ukraine’s defense purposes. Another EUR 30 billion will be allocated for macro-financial assistance or budget support, which will be provided through the Ukraine Facility mechanism. Now the EU Council must make a final official decision on the regulation on the provision of the loan.
