Zelenskyy orders strengthening of infrastructure protection and diplomats to keep partners informed of situation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Air Force, together with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Energy, and community leaders, to develop solutions to strengthen the protection of infrastructure facilities.
“I instructed the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Energy, and designated community leaders, to work on specific solutions we discussed to strengthen the protection of infrastructure facilities. The details cannot be made public at this time, but there are systemic steps that must be taken. I expect a report on the implementation,” he wrote in a Telegram channel on Wednesday following the daily conference call.
According to Zelenskyy, gas supply restoration continues in Donetsk region, also following Russian shelling. “There were strikes on infrastructure in Dnipro region, in the Synelnykove district. Some consumers are currently without electricity in Zaporizhia after shahed strikes – restoration work is underway. All of this shows that security issues are the key priority right now, and everything else must be addressed only in conjunction with truly guaranteed security,” Zelenskyy stressed.
According to the president, as long as Russia continues to kill people and destroy our infrastructure, society will not have sufficient trust even in active diplomacy. “And this is important for all of Ukraine’s partners – in the United States and Europe – to understand. I expect Ukrainian diplomats to effectively convey this position on security to our partners and to fully inform all of our partners about the real situation in Ukraine’s regions,” he emphasized.
Zelenskyy also announced that he had instructed the government to ensure the full implementation of the heat package program in Poltava region. “I am grateful to all repair crews, energy companies, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and municipal services for working virtually 24/7 on restoration efforts in the regions of central Ukraine, as well as in Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn, and Kyiv regions, and in the capital. All the results achieved so far in restoration efforts are helping both our defense and our diplomacy,” the head of stressed.
Zelenskyy noted that virtually every community bordering Russia and in the frontline regions is reporting constant Russian strikes. In Kherson alone, there were 470 strike drones in the past 24 hours. "One of the strikes in Kharkiv region—on Bohodukhiv—has serious consequences. A Russian drone directly hit a residential building, killing two children: two boys, both just two years old, and a girl, just one year old. The children’s father was also killed. My condolences. The children’s mother is in the hospital, receiving medical care," he wrote.
