Zelenskyy: Russian army not preparing to stop – they are preparing to continue fighting
Every Russian strike undermines trust in everything that is being done in diplomacy to end this war, the Russian army is not preparing to stop, they are preparing to fight further, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on the nightly shelling by the Russians.
The President noted that the Russian strike on Kharkiv the day before took the lives of three children and their father.
"This morning, a city hospital in Zaporizhia was attacked with a drone. At night, 6 people were injured in a drone attack in Sumy region, including children. Unfortunately, one person died. In the morning, there was also an attack on a railway depot in Konotop - a fire train was damaged. They also struck in the Dnipro, Zaporizhia, and Poltava regions. In total, 129 strike drones have been launched across Ukraine since the evening, a significant part of which are Shahed UAVs"," Zelenskyy said on Telegram on Wednesday.
He stressed that "each such Russian strike undermines confidence in everything that is being done in diplomacy to end this war, and proves again and again that tough pressure on Russia and clear security guarantees for Ukraine are the real key to ending the killings." According to the president, as long as pressure on Russia is insufficient and security for Ukraine is not guaranteed, everything else does not work. "The Russian army is not preparing to stop - they are preparing to continue to fight. And in reality, only our strength works to protect life, which means that we need to continue to support and strengthen Ukraine. Air defense for our state, packages to support our resilience, and Russia’s responsibility for what is being done are mandatory prerequisites for protecting life. Security must exist so that there is peace," he said.
