Rada settles issue of mandatory evacuation
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has regulated the issue of conducting mandatory evacuation.
A total of 259 deputies voted for the relevant bill No. 12353 on amendments to certain laws regarding the regulation of mandatory evacuation in second reading and as a whole at a plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.
The bill establishes that mandatory evacuation is carried out from territories determined by the government in the prescribed manner. Decisions on conducting mandatory evacuation will be made by regional and Kyiv city military administrations based on proposals from military command in the respective territory. At the same time, mandatory evacuation can be either general or partial - for certain categories of the population who, due to age or health condition, are unable to independently take measures to preserve life or health, including children, persons with disabilities and the elderly.
The bill contains provisions on accommodation and life support for evacuated population, as well as on evacuation of material and cultural valuables. According to the bill, evacuated citizens have the right to temporary housing from housing stock.
