2 min read

A project to support gender-responsive and inclusive recovery and European integration, the Gender Equality Facility, is being launched in Ukraine, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration has reported.

"UN Women in Ukraine signed an agreement to launch the Gender Equality Facility project. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova, Deputy Executive Director of UN Women Kirsi Madi, UN System Coordinator in Ukraine, and Humanitarian Coordinator Matthias Schmale," the office said in a statement.

It is noted that the EU-funded initiative will provide the Ukrainian government with the necessary expertise and tools to integrate gender equality principles into all areas of public policy, recovery planning and legislative development.

"In the process of building a systemic and technically verified process of European integration, gender equality and taking into account the needs of different population groups must be cross-cutting elements. The project is extremely important for Ukraine's recovery to be not only fast, but also inclusive and aimed at meeting European Union standards. We are grateful to our partners for their support," Kachka said.

According to him, the project will help align national policies with the EU acquis, strengthen institutional capacity, implement data-based decisions and ensure that Ukraine's recovery is not only fast, but also inclusive and focused on European values.
