City of Kaluga could have survived for a year with the money Russia spent on its recent attack against Ukraine – GUR
Russia spent $324.8 million on a massive, combined attack on Ukraine's energy sector on Tuesday night, which is comparable to the annual budget of an autonomous region or regional center, according to the Main Intelligence Agency (GUR) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
"According to the Air Force, Iskander and RM-48U ballistic missiles, 3M22 Zircon and 3M55 Onyx hypersonic missiles, and X-101, 9M728 Iskander-K, and X-32 cruise missiles were used against the Ukrainian people. In addition to the missiles, the enemy also deployed attack drones... The total cost of the weapons used amounted to $324.8 million... This amount could have supported the Jewish Autonomous Okrug of the Russian Federation, with a population of approximately 144,000, or the city of Kaluga, with a population of over 320,000, for a whole year. This amount is also comparable to the six-month budget of Kostroma region," GUR said on its Telegram channel.
According to the Main Intelligence Agency, the majority of the resources expended—79.2%—were wasted: Ukrainian air defenses destroyed 450 air targets.
It is noted that, lacking tangible successes in the war against Ukraine, the Kremlin is resorting to systematic terror against the civilian population in an attempt to undermine the unity of Ukrainian society.
