Ukrainian Red Cross Society delivers 3 generators to geriatric care home
The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) has delivered generators to a geriatric care facility in Kyiv.
"Three generators with a capacity of 13.75 kW were delivered to a geriatric care home in Kyiv. Amid disruptions to heat and electricity supply, they will ensure uninterrupted power for critically important equipment and life-support systems at the facility," the URCS reported on its official Facebook page.
The facility currently houses 225 elderly people and members of low-mobility population groups. Half of them are internally displaced persons evacuated from frontline or temporarily occupied territories. Over the past seven days alone, another 15 people have found shelter there, residents of Kyiv's left bank who were offered assistance by social services and, in particular, volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society during apartment visits following Russian air attacks that led to the suspension of heat supply.
The URCS said that these generators are part of large-scale international assistance that the Ukrainian Red Cross receives from the European Union. A total of 447 generators are being delivered to Ukraine from the European Union's strategic reserves under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. They are intended to support communities most affected by attacks on energy infrastructure.
The URCS, in coordination with the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine and the Kyiv City State Administration, is ensuring the delivery of generators directly to regions and facilities where they are most needed. These are primarily social institutions where stable electricity supply is a guarantee of safety and life.
