The amount of funds allocated from the state budget for the procurement of medicines for children with cancer is insufficient, the head of the department of planning, financing and monitoring of centralized activities and tender procurement at the Ukrainian Health Ministry, Halyna Dovhanchych, has said.
"Purchases are being made in the current regime. The budget currently foresees UAH 90 million for measures in pediatric oncology, while last year the amount was UAH 60 million. However, these funds are insufficient to fully cover the need, which is UAH 130 million," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.
Dovhanchych noted that UAH 63 million worth of contracts had currently been signed for the purchase of medicines for children with cancer and that medicine supplies were already being made.
