Ukraine's Culture Minister Mykhailo Kulyniak believes that the two cultural heritage sites in Crimea - the ancient city of Khersones Tavriysky (Chersonesus Taurica) and the Khan's Palace in the town of Bakhchysaray have a high chance to be put on in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Kulyniak said this during a meeting which he chaired in Simferopol on Wednesday, the main department for information policy of the Crimean Council of Ministers reported.
According to the minister, in 2013 Ukraine is planning to deliver a report at the session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which will address the issues of cultural heritage protection.
"Crimea is among the priority areas in the area of cultural heritage protection. Two sites in Crimea are being prepared to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites List. These are Bakhchysaray and Khersones," Kulyniak said.
The minister said these sites had a high chance to be included in the list.
