Mykhailo Afanasyev, the chief of Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 in Kharkiv, where former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko is undergoing treatment, has said that the actions of the people's deputies, who blocked the exits of the ex-premier's ward on Monday in the evening to protect her from possible transportation to the courtroom, "went beyond the reasonable limits," and promised to discharge Tymoshenko from the hospital in case the MPs repeat such actions.
"The events that took place on the territory of Ukrzalianytsia's central clinical hospital and outside it went beyond all reasonable limits. I, as the chief of the medical establishment, have to state that such behavior of the people's deputies, their provocations, and insinuations destabilize work of the hospital. They used their IDs to enter the territory of the medical establishment and, as far as we understand, used it to make statements and hold a PR event," Afanasyev said.
"I would like to recall that Tymoshenko is not the only patient at clinical hospital No. 5, there are 450 patients here, and they are also human beings and they have a right to get qualified aid in calm conditions," he said.
According to the chief of the hospital, following the events that took place at the hospital on Monday he had to declare that the people's deputies disrespect the patients, their relatives, and employees of the hospital.
"I have to declare that in case the parliamentarians keep acting in the same way I will have to discharge Tymoshenko, whose rehabilitation procedures are over, she has received necessary medical aid, and thanks to the treatment procedures she is active and successfully holds meetings with lawyers and politicians for several hours almost every day," the chief of the clinic said.
As reported, on July 9 BYT-Batkivschyna parliamentary faction MPs decided to spend the night at Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 "to prevent unlawful actions against the ex-premier." In the morning on Tuesday, the head of the BYT-Batkivschyna faction Andriy Kozhemiakin said that he was going to stay at the hospital during the hearing of the criminal case on the activities of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine Corporation at Kyivsky District Court of Kharkiv. Meanwhile, the court hearing was postponed until July 23 due to the state of health of the ex-premier.
