Kyiv Pechersky District Court will continue hearing the case against former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko regarding the investigation of the poisoning of Viktor Yuschenko at 0915 on July 10.
Presiding Judge Hanna Medushevska announced the closure of the sitting at Lutseko's request due to the fact that he hasn't eaten since 0600, when he was brought to the court.
Earlier, during the trial, two witnesses confirmed the absence of violations of the law by the ex-minister when he extended the surveillance over the driver of former first deputy chief of the SBU Volodymyr Satsiuk in the frames of the investigation of the poisoning of the then presidential candidate, Viktor Yuschenko.
In particular, Mykhailo Vershniak, the former head of the commission, which investigated the lawfulness of the surveillance, noted that the information about Lutsenko's personal oversight of this case was not true.
In addition, in his testimony, he said that former Deputy Interior Minister Petro Koliada had no right to end the surveillance, and Lutsenko did not know that his deputy had done so.
Vershniak said that the ex-minister had no hand in this, because it was his deputy and the head of the department of criminal investigations who oversaw the case.
Another witness, who was questioned in court on Saturday - an employee of the SBU, who took part in the task force investigating the causes and circumstances of the alleged poisoning of Yuschenko, Oleksiy Shevchuk, said that that he knew nothing about the Satsiuk's driver, nor about Lutsenko's alleged criminal activities.
