Parliament not to consider Tomenko's resignation if he withdraws his statement within ten days

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has put on its agenda a question about the consideration of a statement of resignation by Ukrainian Deputy Parliament Speaker Mykola Tomenko.

The parliament must consider the question within ten days, but it will not do so if the vice-speaker withdraws his statement.

"Under the law, within ten days the parliament should give an answer to this or another statement after the issue is put on the agenda," First Deputy Parliament Speaker Adam Martyniuk said at a parliament session on Friday.

The leader of the Regions Party faction in parliament, Oleksandr Yefremov, said that now it all depends on Tomenko's actions.

"If he withdraws his statement, then we won't consider it in the session hall. If he does not withdraw it, we will consider it," he said.
