The parliamentary majority is planning to convince Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn to change his mind and not to rush into resignation.
Lytvyn and his deputy, Mykola Tomenko, announced on Wednesday morning that they would resign, following the passing of the law on state language policy by parliament.
"We will talk to Volodymyr Mykhailovych [Lytvyn] and convince him not to rush into this," the leader of the Regions Party parliamentary faction, Oleksandr Yefremov, told journalists on Wednesday.
"Emotions remain just emotions, while responsibility is responsibility," he added.
According to Yefremov, every politician is responsible for serious issues in the country, and he or she should choose between emotional and rational deeds.
"I think rationality should prevail," he said.
