Ukraine can still get to Euro 2012 quarter-finals, says Shevchenko

Ukraine skipper Andriy Shevchenko has said that his team is still able to get to the quarter-finals of Euro 2012 if it defeats England.

"We knew that this would be a very difficult game. France played very well, especially in the second half. We still have a chance. If we beat England, then we will go on," he said in an interview with reporters in the mixed zone after the defeat 0-2 to France in Donetsk on Friday evening.

Shevchenko said that England, like France is a very strong team, and Ukraine should play much better than against France to defeat the Three Lions.

When asked, how much stronger England will be with the return of their captain Wayne Rooney, who was disqualified for the first two matches of the Euro 2012 group stage, the Ukrainian striker said: "He has not played for a month, but I know that he is a very good player and he can seriously change the team. We'll see."

Shevchenko believes that the greatest danger during the match against England will be corner kicks be free kicks.

The footballer urged Ukrainians to support their team during the final match of the group stage against England scheduled for June 19 in Donetsk.
