France defeats Ukraine 2-0 in second round of Euro 2012 group stage

Ukraine has lost 0-2 to France in the second round of the group stage of Euro 2012 in Donetsk.

Immediately after the kick-off the match was interrupted by heavy rain and a thunderstorm. After 58 minutes the game resumed.

The first half of the game ended with neither team managing to score any goals.

After 53 minutes of the game Karim Benzema's pass allowed Jérémy Ménez to score the opener for France.

Within three minutes, Yohan Cabaye doubled the lead for France shooting the ball past Ukraine's goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov to the from the bottom-right corner.

When the final whistle was blown the score stood 2-0.

Thus, Ukraine's national team has lost the fifth game in Donetsk in its history. Two other games ended in a draw. Ukraine's squad has never managed a victory in Donbas capital.

Some 48,000 people attended the Ukraine-France match at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk on Friday.
