Tigipko: Ukraine scored an own goal in 2009 by signing gas contracts

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Social Policy Minister Sergiy Tigipko has said he doubts that Russia will easily agree to review gas contracts with Ukraine.

"I'm not sure that our Russian partners will very easily agree to review [the contracts]. They were given a very good gift. Speaking the language of football, it's an own goal," the vice premier's press service quoted Tigipko as saying at a meeting with journalists in Mykolaiv on Friday.

He said that Ukraine should seek a revision of its gas contracts.
