OSCE/ODIHR ready to send observes for parliamentary elections in Ukraine, says Fule

EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule has said that the OSCE is ready to send an observer mission to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

"I think that concerning the parliamentary elections, we have had some encouraging signs that need to be followed through. I'm glad that the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights has completed its needs assessment report, and that the necessary preparations are being made for an observer mission," he said in Strasbourg on Wednesday at a meeting of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.

The commissioner also stressed the importance of holding the elections according to international standards.

Parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 28, 2012.
