Azarov admits mistakes made by his government, in general satisfied with reforms in Ukraine
The social and economic situation in Ukraine could have been worse without reforms implemented by the Ukrainian government, Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has said.
"The government is implementing reforms initiated by the president of Ukraine, and it is a difficult process, it's not smooth and simple. I should say that if there were no reforms, the social and economic situation in the country could much worse," he said at a meeting with the heads of public councils under state agencies in Kyiv on Thursday.
"We've managed not just to restore financial and economic stability, but also to develop under very the difficult conditions of the world economic crisis," he said.
According to Azarov, the transformations implemented by the government "are not always visible, but always consistent."
"Considering the difficult situation, sometimes we have to slow down, and due to this we are subject to fair criticism," the PM said.
Azarov admitted that it's impossible to avoid certain mistakes in the reform implementation process, and called on the community to help the government correct them.
"Sometimes we make mistakes in the process of reform implementation, but only those who do nothing never make mistakes. I wish we made fewer mistakes, and the role of the community is huge here," he said.
