MEPs unroll posters calling for release of political prisoners during match in Kharkiv
Members of the Greens Group of the European Parliament Rebecca Harms and Werner Schulz unrolled two posters at the Metalist stadium in Kharkiv before the match between Germany and the Netherlands on June 13.
One of the posters read "Fair Game in Football and Politics" and the other one read "Freedom to All Political Prisoners."
Stewards took the posters away from the MEPs and returned them after the match.
As reported, the MEPs arrived in Kharkiv to meet with former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko at Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 and support the German team at the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.
However, the meeting with Tymoshenko was postponed as the MEPs' plane was delayed due to stormy weather.
According to an Interfax-Ukraine reporter, the MEPs entered the territory of the hospital in Kharkiv at around 1000 on Thursday.
