Ukrainian opposition talks about return to parliamentary-presidential form of government
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy Serhiy Mischenko (BYT-Batkivschyna faction) has called for a return to a parliamentary-presidential form of government.
"We need to restore balance and return to a parliamentary-presidential form of government. Of course, it will be difficult to do, because it's impossible to reverse a decision of the Constitutional Court," he said at a roundtable meeting entitled "Honest government: responsibility, transparency and accountability" in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The MP also added: "The question is whether there are 300 votes in parliament and when this will happen - now or by 2015."
Mischenko also stressed the need to introduce a mechanism for the personal voting of all MPs "so that every people's deputy can work."
"Then it will be possible to amend the Constitution at a national referendum, as now it is planned to do so in the presidential administration," he said.
Mischenko also called for the discussion of as a mechanism for the recall of MPs by voters. For this purpose, he said, it is necessary to adopt a respective bill.
"Everyone should be responsible for his or her actions and voting," he said
