Mostobud to stop construction of bridges across Dnipro in Kyiv and Zaporizhia if debts not paid by state

OJSC Mostobud (Kyiv), the largest bridge construction company in Ukraine, which is the general contractor of the construction of the Podilsky bridge in Kyiv and a bridge across the Dnipro in Zaporizhia, does not exclude it could stop construction if the state does not pay a debt of UAH 250 million, the company said, citing Volodymyr Prodyvus, the head of its supervisory council, in a report in the Delo newspaper.

"They're constructing using our money. But the company's reserves, its working capital, are running out. The state has a debt of UAH 250 million to us. In spite of the large debt, the supervisory council of Mostobud decided to continue construction. But if the customers do not start to pay, the objects will be frozen. The reason is not that we do not want to construct, but because no domestic company could finance state constructions that run into billions," he said.
