NBU decides to introduce its curators tat Ukrgasbank and SotsCom Bank
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided to introduce its curators at Ukrgasbank (Kyiv) and SotsCom Bank (Odesa), according to the Kommersant-Ukraine newspaper, referring to a source at the NBU.
The director of the foreign relations department of the NBU, Serhiy Kruhlyk, confirmed that the NBU had introduced curators to the banks. A corresponding decision was made at a meeting on February 28.
According to Kruhlyk, the introduction of curators will allow clearer monitoring of financial flows in the banks, to avoid the misapplication of funds.
Ukrgasbank was founded in 1993. Among its largest stockholders by January 1, 2009, were Financial and Investment Alliance Ltd. with 33.0063% and Ukrgazinvest Plus Ltd. with 19.0005%.
The bank ranked 17th among the 182 operating banks in Ukraine in terms of overall assets, estimated at UAH 14.803 billion, as of January 1, 2009, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.
SotsCom Bank was founded in 2003. Its largest stockholder by January 1, 2009, was Sotscom-strakhuvannia insurance company (10.9432%).
The bank ranked 98th among the 182 operating banks in Ukraine in terms of overall assets, estimated at UAH 841 million, as of January 1, 2009, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.
