Peugeot Ukraine, the official representative office of Automobiles Peugeot, in January-November 2011 sold 3,525 cars in its dealer chain, which is 2.4 times up year-over-year, reads a posting on the company's Web site.

"Last year we set the goal of increasing the Peugeot brand's presence on the Ukrainian market to 1.5% and sell 3,525 cars. The realization of the target in advance is evidence of the correctness of the selected strategy and an incentive for further development," reads the release, citing marketing director, Oles Shkuratov.

The Peugeot 308 was the most popular model with Ukrainian consumers in 2011 – 27% of total sales (335 with utility cars and coupe-cabriolet cars), followed by the leader in the MPV-C segment in Ukraine – the Peugeot 3008 (22%), Peugeot 207 (20%) and Peugeot 107 (19%).

The company said that 30% of total sales are diesel-engine cars.

The company said, referring to the Autо Consulting group, that in the first ten months of 2011 Peugeot's share of the Ukrainian market was 1.64% (1% in 2010).

In the A segment (Peugeot 107), the brand's share is around 7.8% (six times up year-over-year), in the compact van segment " (Peugeot 3008) its share is 30.2% (six times up) and the medium-size coupe segment it is 8.15% (almost ten times up).

"Next year we'll make happy admirers of the French brand with two new models – the 508 and 4008," Shkuratov said.

The Peugeot brand has been on sale in Ukraine since 1992 by an official importer. In 18 years, over 20,000 cars have been sold, and an extensive dealer chain covering the largest regions of the country has been created.

In December 2009, representatives of PSA Peugeot Citroen announced plans to open a subsidiary of Peugeot in Ukraine. The main strategic task of the representative office is to bring the brand's share of the Ukrainian market to 4% by 2014.
