The state committee for regulatory policy and entrepreneurship has agreed a draft cabinet resolution drawn up by the state committee for technical regulation and consumer policy, according to which all food that has contents that are over 0.1% made of genetically modified organisms (GMO) has to be labeled "with GMOs."
The committee's press service reported on Thursday that the new draft foresees the cancelation of the present labeling procedure, according to which food that contains over 0.9% content with GMOs are to be labeled.
The committee also said that producers were given a period of six months to adapt to the new requirements from the moment of the publication of the approved procedure for food GMO labeling.
